About us
Hi there!
Great, you found us! Twitcident is a collaborative research initiative. It is initiated by Richard Stronkman, TNO and TU Delft, with the intention to enhance public safety.
Our mission: helping emergency services
We are here to support emergency services. With over 250 million tweets published every day it takes quite an army to get the relevant content out there. During big incidents, like the Chilean earthquakes, the emergency services are flooded by a storm of tweets. As we believe it is important to listen to the voice of the crowds that witness these incidents, we'll try to ease the task of filtering.
What our scientists have to say
We can talk hours about science involved, so if that's what you are interested in, please check the WIS website, the WWW2012 paper, or read a Dutch blog post from the TNO website about social media monitoring in the public safety sector.
